Europe Trip #8: Slovenia/ Bled - 3 - Bled Island

In the middle of the lake at Bled is an Island with a fairly impressive history. The earliest buildings [not the current ones] trace back to approximately the 8th century BC. The current buildings on the site are a Catholic church and associated buildings [church, accommodation etc]. The church does not appear to be in use for more than a tourist attraction now, although it is a pretty impressive attraction.

Access to the island is via boat [either row your own, or my preference, EUR$13 for a return trip out, rowed in style and comfort!!].

This island was also used for some of the wedding pictures - apparently, the day prior to my sister´s wedding, there were up to eight brides [etc] on the island at one time. I wouldn´t want to have had to keep that lot separated!!! :-)

The following pictures include the transport, the island, buildings and view from the island. Another must do for Bled [in addition to the scenic walk around the lake - about 1.5 - 2 hours].
